Paloma Lazcano has been appointed managing director of Topigs Norsvin Mexico. Lazcano is now chief of staff of Topigs Norsvin Mexico. She takes over with immediate effect from José Córdoba who was managing director for 10 years.

Lazcano has more than eight years of experience at Topigs Norsvin where she was active for the Mexican and international company. She held multiple positions in Mexico and managed several international projects, expanding her knowledge and skills over the years.

"We are proud to continue our growing business of Topigs Norsvin in Mexico with the leadership of Paloma," said Peter van Kemenade, regional director North and South America. "It is a step in the development of our company with the next generation."

Córdoba served as general manager since 2013. Under his leadership, Topigs Norsvin has experienced strong development and has become one of the leading genetics suppliers in the country. He will remain involved with Topigs Norsvin as external advisor and will support new projects and developments.

"It was an honor and a very pleasant experience to work with José for the past 10 years," said van Kemenade. "He is a professional and a man of the Mexican pork industry. His experience will be missed, but I fully understand his early retirement in order to spend more time with his family and on his hobbies."

Elskamp to lead business development in Canada

Topigs Norsvin Canada has announced Tom Elskamp will join its staff as national sales manager based out of Winnipeg. In his new role, Elskamp will be focused on business development, customer support and sales management for Canada.

Elskamp is well known in the Canadian swine industry. He has considerable experience working with producers, packers and related specialists.

"Tom will be a valuable asset to the Topigs Norsvin Canada sales team as he embraces this new responsibility and assumes his leadership role," said Cam McGavin, managing director for Canada.

"Working in the swine pharmaceutical industry for the past 26 years has allowed me to work side by side with some of the best swine producers on the globe. Their relentless pursuit for increased production and efficiency in every aspect of their business has taught me that new technologies, open communication and partnerships are key to their success," said Elskamp. "I'm excited to be part of the Topigs Norsvin team of experts and look forward to building new partnerships and enhancing existing customers long-term goals and objectives."
