Expert Panel to Investigate Latest Undercover Pig Video
May 8, 2012
The Center for Food Integrity has created an Animal Care Review Panel to provide a balanced analysis of a hidden camera video investigation at a hog farm in Wyoming that was released this morning by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS).
The panel is comprised of a veterinarian, an ethicist and an animal scientist. Members include:
Temple Grandin, Colorado State University
Candace Croney, Purdue University and
John Deen, DVM, University of Minnesota.
The Center for Food Integrity creates Animal Care Review Panels to provide a balanced analysis of undercover video investigations. This process “engages recognized animal care specialists to examine video and provide expert perspectives for food retailers, the pork industry and the media,” the Kansas City-based center explains.
The Center for Food Integrity (CFI) facilitates the process without involvement of national species organizations. CFI’s goal is to release the panel’s findings to the food industry within 48 hours.
