This week President Obama held a webinar to take a look at agricultural antibiotic use. The issue is on the minds of international leaders as well, and several stories delved into the antibiotic issue on a global scale. Feed Navigator.com outlined steps being taken by the UK’s parliament to investigate antimicrobial use in agriculture. At the same time, a National Law Review article suggested that antibiotic resistance may be more related to too few new antibiotics being developed than to agricultural use. The World Health Organization will be holding an online public discussion over the next two months as part of a move toward developing a Global Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance. </div> <div class="field-content-focus"> <span>Content Classification:&nbsp;</span> Curated </div> <div class="og_rss_groups"></div><p><a href="http://nationalhogfarmer.com/health/antibiotic-issues-continue-stir-debate" target="_blank">read more</a></p> http://nationalhogfarmer.com/health/antibiotic-issues-continue-stir-debate#comments Food Animal Report Health Antibiotics Fri, 11 Jul 2014 21:14:00 +0000 49341 at http://nationalhogfarmer.com U.S. House Passes Veterinary Medicine Mobility Act http://nationalhogfarmer.com/health/us-house-passes-veterinary-medicine-mobility-act <div class="field-byline"> Source: American Veterinary Medical Association </div> <div class="node-body article-body">The passage of the Veterinary Medicine Mobility Act in the U.S. House of Representatives this week means veterinarians are one step closer to being able to carry and use controlled substances to provide complete care outside of their clinics and across state lines.
