The farm uses anaerobic digesters to create methane gas, which is sold to the local power company. Flushed from the under-barn pits to the digesters, the manure creates enough power from the methane gas to power 3,000 homes.

http://nationalhogfarmer.com/environmental-stewardship-winners-2013/2013-environmental-stewards-blue-mountain-farms-anaerobic-dig#comments Environmental Stewardship Winners 2013 Fri, 31 Jan 2014 20:26:00 +0000 44901 at http://nationalhogfarmer.com 2013 Environmental Stewards: Krikke Pork Manure Fertilizer http://nationalhogfarmer.com/environmental-stewardship-winners-2013/2013-environmental-stewards-krikke-pork-manure-fertilizer

Krikke Pork, Greenwich, Ohio, is a 2013 Envinronmental Steward Award winner. "Being good stewards of the land is a requirement.
