Illinois Pork Expo Covers Hot Topics

The 2012 Illinois Pork Expo Jan. 31-Feb. 1 at the Peoria Civic Center provides coverage of several key issues to the pork industry.

The seminar program Feb. 1 features discussions on vitamin D deficiency in pigs, exceeding 30 pigs/sow/year, pork exports and global issues, domestic market outlook and risk management strategies and an update on environmental regulations. A complete seminar schedule can be found at www.ilpork.com.

The Illinois Pork Producers Association (IPPA) will hold its annual meeting on Jan. 31. The trade show opens at noon that day and remains open until 6 p.m. It reopens on Feb. 1 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Pork Production Auction will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Allied industry companies donate products and services to be auctioned off. Pork producers can purchase auctioned items to use in their operations including feed, pharmaceuticals, equipment and more. The proceeds from the auction support IPPA’s legislative activities at the state and national level.

Seminars for purebred and show pig producers and youth are all scheduled for Feb. 1.

The “Generations of Commitment” Awards Banquet will be held at the Four Points Hotel by Sheraton, the new headquarters hotel for the conference.
