A coalition of livestock and animal health groups in a letter to the leaders of the House and Senate Agriculture Committees are asking that the 2012 Farm Bill include a comprehensive Livestock Title.  The Coalition is asking that the Title include reauthorization of the Livestock Disaster Assistance Program, reauthorization of Mandatory Price Reporting, amend the interstate meat inspection program, and a number of animal health issues.  The U.S. Cattlemen’s Association said, “The livestock titles within the previous two Farm bills have served to effectively bolster the livestock sector.  These titles provide a clear, concise section within the Farm Bill that enables livestock producers to benefit from specific programs.”  Those signing the letter include the American Horse Council, American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians, National Assembly of State Animal Health Officials, National Farmers Union, United States Animal Health Association, and U.S. Cattlemen's Association.  The letter does not mention GIPSA, COOL, or animal ID which were major livestock issues during consideration of the 2008 Farm Bill.
