The Pork Checkoff is offering a Ham-A-Day Giveaway for this Easter.
As part of the promotion, consumers are invited to enter via the Web site (www.pork.org) or Twitter (@AllAboutPork) or enter at www.PorkBeInspired.com between April 1 and April 20 for a chance to win a ham for this year’s Easter celebration. Consumers are encouraged to share how they will be enjoying ham this Easter, and can click on the “like” button on Facebook.com/PorkBeInspired.com to receive the latest pork news.
More than 100 ham recipes can be found at www.PorkBeInspired.com, which also includes a popular video that shows how to perfectly carve a ham.
Pork comprised the largest percentage increase in cold storage of meat and poultry products during February at 39.3 million pounds, according to Steve Meyer and Len Steiner, publishers of The Daily Livestock Report. Higher ham stocks accounted for 44% of the increase, and this year’s late date for Easter (April 24) is one reason for the large amount of available hams, the economists wrote March 23.
