The Iowa Pork Producers Association (IPPA) is offering a one-day seminar on “Managing Prices for Optimal Pork Returns,” from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 23 at the Hilton Garden Inn, Johnston, IA.
Chicago Mercantile Exchange and Commodity and Ingredient Hedging, LLC officials will explain futures and options contracts.
Iowa State University agricultural economist John Lawrence will provide his latest hog and grain outlook.
Producers will also learn how to control results through margin management.
IPPA Producer Education Committee Chairman Leon Sheets from Ionia, IA, says the seminar is well-timed.
“As we look at input costs and futures prices, it’ll become extremely important to manage the dollars we have to work with,” Sheets says. “We anticipate that prices may not be what they’ve been the last three years, so our bottom line is going to be challenged, and it’s important that we look at all of the tools available to help maximize our profit potential.”
Pre-registration costs $10 and on-site registration is $20. Registration deadline is Aug. 20. For more information, contact Ali Smith at (515) 225-7675, (800) 372-7675 or email@example.com.
