A group of Nebraska pork producers has purchased the assets of the bankrupt Furnas County Farms, Nebraska’s largest hog operation.

The lone bid cast by Nebraska Pork Partners was for about $57 million in cash. The group is a general partnership of state producers led by Scott Burroughs of Milford, a former consultant to the Columbus-based operation, and Brett Wilke of Stanton.

The group wants to close the deal in early August, despite plans by Nebraska’s attorney general to review the arrangement to ensure it complies with the state’s anti-corporate ownership law.
