The 12th annual World Pork Expo, hosted by the National Pork Producers Council and the National Pork Board, is set for June 10-12 in Des Moines, IA. More than 550 agricultural companies will be exhibiting at this world's largest pork-specific event.

This year's Expo will place special emphasis on providing producers with checkoff-funded information that will assist them with risk management and profitability.

Educational Seminars will cover topics such as what's ahead in the U.S. pork industry, pork quality, planning for profits, herd health and marketing.

The Business District features professional representatives of the business area who will be on hand to answer producers' questions on finance, marketing, production, financial recordkeeping systems and the National Swine Database.

At the Environmental Education Center, pork producers can test their knowledge about the environment as part of a new information contest called "Enviro-Challenge."

Share ideas with foreign counterparts at the International Visitor's Center. Pork Online provides the opportunity to explore the Internet and ask Web specialists questions.

The World Pork Expo also offers family fun. Activities include free musical entertainment, competitive hog shows, pig races, the Pig-Casso Art Show, a craft show and the Family Fun Center, which has interactive educational displays for visitors of all ages.

Celebrated chefs will be on hand to demonstrate the versatility of cooking with pork. Pork barbeque samples will be offered by contestants of the Great Pork BarbeQlossal contest. At the Pork Product Showcase, visitors will see and taste pork dishes and flavors from Mexico to the Orient, learn pork cooking techniques, taste new products and discover new flavors.
