The 2011 Small-Scale Anaerobic Digester Conference will be held at the Michigan State University (MSU) Bioeconomy Institute in Holland, MI, on Dec. 1. This conference will outline the basic principles behind anaerobic digestion and highlight the key issues facing small-scale digester adoption and options for the small-scale farmer.

Conference organizers say in recent years digesters have been designed for and marketed specifically to the small dairy. The conference will cover topics such as the thought process producers should follow when evaluating the best use for the biogas and digestate produced by on-farm digesters.

Information about the conference, including registration, can be found at wimanuremgt.org/. It should be noted that while the target audience is small dairy owners and operators, the information to be shared can be generalized to other applications.
