The Midwest Regional Technology Summit, coordinated by Farm Pilot Project Coordination, Inc. (FFPC), will be held July 14-15 at the Renaissance Savery Hotel in Des Moines, IA. The symposium will focus on the theme, "Strategies to Increase Yields and Revenue on the Farm Using Nitrogen Capture and Renewable Energy Technologies."
FFPC was given a mandate by Congress to oversee the implementation of a pilot project program to demonstrate innovative and economically viable manure treatment technology. The goal is to reduce the nutrient content of the waste stream from animal feeding operations by 75% or more. Pilot project updates will pertain to nutrient management issues, such as the energy and nutrient value of animal waste, renewable energy, and best methods to conserve and optimize nitrogen, among other topics.
Funding for approved pilot projects comes from monies appropriated by Congress and overseen by the Natural Resources Conservation Service, a division of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
