Three meetings are scheduled for early June to explain changes in Iowa’s livestock regulations.
Iowa Pork Producers Association (IPPA) legal counsel Eldon McAfee will provide legal and regulatory information on manure management, air quality, construction and compliance audits and an update on nuisance cases against livestock producers.
“Significant changes in livestock rules and regulations have been made over the past several years,” states John Vossberg, chair of the IPPA Environmental Committee. “As a result of new legislation and administrative rule changes, in addition to increasing fines, it is extremely important that farmers stay updated on regulatory compliance.”
The program will also feature a report to help farmers begin managing manure with the Natural Resource Conservation Service’s Phosphorus Index.
The meetings are scheduled for:
- June 8 from 7-9 p.m. at Northwest Iowa Community College (Building A, Room 116), 603 W. Park St., Sheldon, IA;
- June 9 from 7-9 p.m. at the Red Fox Inn, Hwy. 3 West, Waverly, IA, and
- June 10 from 6-8 p.m. at the Clive Clarion Hotel, 11490 Hickman Rd., Clive, IA.
