New Leadership at Farm Financial Standards Council

dsc_0376.jpg (St. Louis, MO - Sept. 15) New leadership has been elected by the Farm Financial Standards Council which held its 2010 conference and annual meeting here recently.

Elected to the position of president of the organization is Owen Thompson, Director Rural Financial Solutions Credit with AgStar Financial Services, ACA, based in Mankato, MN. Thompson had previously served as the Council’s vice president as well as secretary/treasurer.

Vice President duties for the Council go to Kathy Rancour, Accounting Manager for Christiansen Land and Cattle, LTD., Kimball, SD. She had previously served as the organization’s secretary/treasurer. The new secretary/treasurer for the organization is Kent Meister, Field Staff with Pioneer FBFM Association in Bloomington, IL.

New members of the Council’s Board of Directors include: James Marzolf, LarsonAllen LLP, New Ulm, MN; Stephen Severe, Padlock Ranch, Ranchester, WY; Brett McNeil, Scythe & Spade Company, Eagle, ID; Jan Bitter, First Pioneer Farm Credit, Homer, NY; Shan Hanes, First National Bank of Elkhart, Elkhart, KS; and, Joe Kessie, Lake City Bank, Warsaw, IN.

Board members who were elected to extended terms were: Freddie Barnard, Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN; Paul Ellinger, University of Illinois, Urbana, IL; Barbara Wheeling, Montana State University - Billings, Billings, MT; and, George Moriarty, Iowa Farm Business Association, Spencer, IA.

Curt Covington, senior vice president with Bank of the West, Fresno, CA, was named to the Council’s executive committee as the representative from the American Bankers Association’s Agricultural and Rural Bankers Committee.

The Farm Financial Standards Council is a non-profit organization consisting of professionals representing producer groups, banking, the Farm Credit System, accounting, insurance companies, academics and others involved with agricultural production and finance. The activities of the Council are open to anyone interested in agricultural finance.
