To prevent or respond to threats to the U.S. food supply, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the National Pork Board have issued the following tips:

  • Report any unusual situation to your veterinarian or state or federal animal health official.

  • Stay alert and aware of suspicious activities near food or agricultural operations and report any such activities to authorities.

  • Update emergency telephone numbers.

  • Consider inspecting all vehicles entering your farm and escorting all visitors.

  • Boost surveillance around your farm and restrict public events such as tours and lectures.
