Carthage Clinic Holds 19th Annual Conference

“Riding the Rollercoaster” is the theme for the 19th Annual Swine Health and Production Conference sponsored by Carthage (IL) Veterinary Service, Ltd. on Sept. 1, 2009 at the University Union, on the campus of Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL.

Those interested can register at the Carthage conference page. Last year’s conference drew 550 attendees, providing cutting-edge information to the pork industry.

Reflecting this year’s conference theme, AgStar Financial swine consultant Mark Greenwood of Mankato, MN, gives two talks – “The Pork Industry Financial Outlook: To Ride or Not To Ride,” and “#1 Wooden Roller Coaster: The Pork Industry.”

Other sessions include: swine influenza virus, porcine circovirus, diagnostics, porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome and Mycoplasmal pneumonia.

Concurrent sessions cover sow farm and wean-to-finish management, common ventilation mistakes and employee management.

Final sessions feature talks on euthanasia, handling stress and managing people in a volatile farm economy, carbon credits and a look at today’s pork economy.
