Free Online Seminar Offers Help on Animal Welfare

The University of Minnesota (UMN) Extension and the Minnesota Pork Board will co-sponsor a free online seminar from 1-2 p.m. March 25 on “Creating an Animal Welfare Program.”

Presenters Jim Lummus and Sherrie Niekamp with the National Pork Board will provide information and tools to assist producers with developing animal welfare programs for their operations.

Topics to be addressed in this webinar include:

--Selecting and hiring animal caretakers;

--Tools and strategies for implementing a training program; and

--Additional resources to assist in development of an animal welfare program.
