The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has extended the deadline for producers to sign the Air Emissions Consent Agreement to July 1, 2005. More information can be found about the agreement on the National Pork Producers Council’s website at:
http://www.nppc.org/hot_topics/airemissions.html.
For more information about the agreement, including common legal questions and answers, see “Times Tight to Sign Up for EPA Program,” listed under “features” below. The article appeared in the Feb. 15, 2005 issue of National Hog Farmer, pages 10-11.
Before I get to this week’s topic, I must take a moment to congratulate National Hog Farmer and Weekly Preview Editor Dale Miller for his receiving the Pork Checkoff's 2010 Distinguished Service Award. The award is given annually to recognize the lifelong contribution of an outstanding leader to the pork industry.
USDA's Cold Storage report, released last week, continues to indicate that supplies are at least "current" at present. The cold storage data appear in Table 1.
