Manure Application through Sprinkler Irrigation a New Feature at Manure Expo

The 2011 North American Manure Expo will be held July 20 at the Northeast Community College Ag Complex near Norfolk, NE.

A new display this year will demonstrate manure application through sprinkler irrigation systems. Ride-and-drive demonstrations will be available for those who want to get behind the wheel. All demonstrations will be held, rain or shine, on 40 acres next to the ag complex.

The event also features approximately 50 exhibitors from throughout the United States and Canada, displaying and demonstrating manure handling equipment and technology. The event includes educational sessions and commercial field demonstrations.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Mobile Computer Lab will be on-site to help producers with manure-related questions such as the newly revised Phosphorus (P) Index, the Purdue Manure Management Planner and the National Air Quality Site Assessment Tool.

The annual expo travels to a different state each year. The 2011 North American Manure Expo is sponsored by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension Service and other land grant colleges in partnership with Nebraska custom manure applicators and businesses and the Iowa Commercial Nutrient Applicators' Association. The expo is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is no cost to attend. For more information, visit manureexpo.org.
