Manure Field Day Planned

On Aug. 13, Kansas State University (KSU) is hosting a field day for livestock producers who want to learn more about the proper handling of manure.

“Implementation of Nutrient Management Plans (NMP) for Livestock Operations” will be held at KSU’s Animal Science Farm Shop headquarters in Manhattan, KS.

“This field day is designed to assist livestock producers, nutrient management plan developers and regulatory and Extension personnel in how to properly implement a NMP,” explains Joel DeRouchey, KSU Extension livestock specialist. “We will have demonstrations on proper sampling, calibrating manure equipment, and adjusting application rates based on soil and manure analyses.”

To receive swine certification training credit for attending, producers must register directly with Robert Gavin at (785) 296-5557.

More program information can be obtained from DeRouchey by calling (785) 532-2280 or e-mailing jderouch@ksu.edu.
