USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has reaffirmed China’s equivalence of the food safety inspection system for processed poultry. This will allow China to certify plants to export processed poultry to the United States.

The raw poultry used for these products must originate in the United States or Canada. This has been a major trade issue between the United States and China for a number of years. It is hoped that this step will allow the United States and China to address other trade issues including pork, ractopamine, beef access, etc.
