Pork Producers Support National Ag Day March 19

The National Pork Producers Council (NPPC ) is joining the Agriculture Council of America (ACA) in sponsoring National Agriculture Day on March 19, 2013. This will mark the 40th anniversary of National Agriculture Day, which is celebrated in classrooms and communities across the United States. The theme for Ag Day 2013 is “Generations Nourishing Generations.”

To celebrate National Ag Day, ACA is hosting major events in Washington, D.C. including the Mix-and-Mingle Luncheon and the National Celebration of Agriculture Dinner.   The dinner is hosted by U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack and Miss America 2011 Teresa Scanlan, and will be held at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The ACA is also bringing approximately 100 college students to Washington to deliver the Ag Day message to the Hill.

The U.S. Farmers and Ranchers Alliance is hosting an educational briefing on capitol hill today, too. The theme of the briefing is, “Addressing the New Language of Food and Modern Agriculture.”

The events surrounding National Agriculture Day are part of a nationwide effort focused on telling the true story about American agriculture while reminding citizens that agriculture is important to everyone.
