Poland to File WTO Complaint Against Russia and EU Producer Aid

Poland is expected to file a World Trade Organization complaint against Russia concerning the ban on Polish exports of fruit and vegetables by Russia. Also, the European Union (EU) is establishing a task force comprised of European agriculture officials to analyze the impact of the Russian ban on EU exports. The EU is also providing emergency support for producers of various fruits and vegetables through November because of Russia’s ban on various EU products. The budget for the EU’s program is $167 million. The EU said the support program covering its fruits and vegetables is needed because, “the markets for these products are in full season, with no storage option for most of them and no immediate alternative market.”
