Congressman Collin Peterson (D-MN), ranking member and former chairman of the House Agriculture Committee has announced that he will run for re-election this year. 

There had been speculation that Peterson may retire.  He said there is “more work” to be done in Congress.

Congressman Peterson was instrumental in the passage of the last two farm bills. Congressman Rodney Davis (R-IL) won the Republican primary in Illinois last week for the 13th congressional district in which he faced two challengers. He is a freshman member of the House Agriculture Committee.

The race for Congress in this district will be one of the most contested elections this November.
