The Food & Drug Administration (FDA) announced it was extending the comment period for the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) proposed rules for another 120 days.  The original comment period was to end May 16.   A number of agricultural groups had written FDA asking for an extension of the comment period, noting it would be impossible to provide meaningfully comments on the proposed rules given they propose such a “substantial overhaul of the structure of food safety regulations.”
