ADUFA Passes House Committee

 

The Animal Drug User Fee Act (ADUFA) passed the House Energy and Commerce Committee by a voice vote.  The bill now goes to the House of Representatives.  

Last week, the Senate passed the ADUFA by unanimous consent.  Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) said, “This legislation will make certain that the Food and Drug Administration has the resources it needs to ensure the safety of animal drugs, and to approve products in a timely fashion. Fast, predictable approval of animal drugs, and their generic equivalents, benefits both the animals themselves and the people who depend on them.”  The bill does not ban certain uses of antibiotics or additional reporting requirements as some senators have requested.
